GOT necks and headstocks

I can't speak for all GOT necks, but I own a ASAT Classic with a GOT neck - It is fully finished.





I wonder if the one you saw was a DIY project?

I recently saw an ASAT with a GOT neck and the backside of the headstock was unfinished. It struck me as interesting and I did not think it looked good but I avoid GOT necks anyway. Here I just noticed the backside of this guitar's neck is finished completely with the GOT. This is the first time since seeing the partially finished neck that I have thought to compare any GOT necks. Is this common to leave some unfinished and other finished? Is it something people request? I cannot think of a reason to leave one unfinished outside of aesthetics and that seems too odd to be popular and offered as an option. I am referring to the back of the headstock and not the backside of the neck where it could effect the feel of the guitar.

Do you mean that just the back of the headstock does not have the gun-oil tint? If so, I don't think it was done that way at the factory.
Any chance of getting a picture of this neck?

I know that the SC-2 (re-introduced in 2008) had a gun-oil tinted neck with a Satin finish on the back and Gloss finish on the top of the headstock.
I don't know if they still do this since they opened up the options for this model a while back.

I just returned from checking out that guitar and it had the GOT on both sides. Maybe someone touched it up.......... haha? Nope don't think so. I must have been dreaming.
