And Blarg, you were wondering about the size comparison to an ASAT.

Wow. Nice axe Darwin.

Like rivers find their way to the ocean, the red ones seem to find their way into your arsenal.

Philby, I passed on one just like the one in your avatar about a month and a half ago. I went back a few days later to buy it and it was gone. It was pristine and I still haven't gotten over it! -- Darwin

Condolences Darwin. I'll put up a new avatar if it helps you get over it. ;)

I surprised even myself for going with a blue, but the G&L metallic blue is a work of art the way it changes colour with the light.

The guitar universe probably has something even better in store for your collection.

now THAT's red. :) wouldn't mind seeing black pup covers on this one. something nice, simple, and direct about SC's whether Leo or BBE-era. just like Mustang's were back in the day but a whole lot better guitar overall. nice one!

She a beauty Darwin. Those creme pup covers look amazing with the RED. The gloss neck also looks amazing. How does it play?

Lovely guitar Darwin. Fullerton Red would have to be one of the top two G&L colours, and one of the best reds ever. And thanks for the size comparison

Great looking guitars Darwin, I am now totally jonesing for something else with a flake finish! Gold flake on an SC-2 would be out of control. The creme and fullerton red are a special combo for sure.

I only thing i have found with the slightly narrower body i have had to move the strap up slightly to get the right angle. The first rehearsal i took it to i felt a bit off my game with it, not even realizing it was a tad to low for me. Other than that the sc-2 has been nothing but outstanding, have you gigged or rehearsed with it yet? Just wondering what the reaction has been. I know i get a lot of people squinting trying to read the headstock!

Thanks for the comments folks.

Ginny does not think it is as beautiful as I do. Ed, I am keeping her in the dark!

This thing plays wonderfully and it does have the 7 1/2 radius and vintage frets, a combo I like, but my only G&L in that config. I have not gigged with it but i can see where it may need to ride a bit higher while playing. I bet the cool colors on the SC-2s do get comments from the crowd. Anyway, I am primed for one in Green with a Maple fretboard and 12 ' radius. A matching headstock would be especially cool. I think a flamed neck would look good on one of these.-- Darwin

Darwin that is the only thing that would take me from the ASAT body.

Basically an ASAT with a trem IMHO and downright beautiful. :happy0065:

Ya know, guitars like that need to be shared for GLDP reviews..... :shifty:

Enjoy!!

Thanks Sam, your shared reviews idea is a good idea. We could keep rotating new guitars. How could we implement this fairly. There are a bunch I would like to test. Any ideas out there folks. Would G&L pick up the shipping and the price of the guitars that never came back after the testing. Ideas anyone? -- I would love Gitmans green one and I may just tell him to keep the Red. Are there any flaws in this logic?-- Darwin :shocked028:

Nice looking SC-2! I haven't had a chance to try a new SC-2 but I sure would like to. I'd like to compare it to my Leo era SC-2.

I would too, Sprinter.

I also would have liked to be in the room when it was decided to radically alter the control configuration and related trim on the Reissue. I do realize though that there are two sides to this, and things to consider that are well beyond my understanding.

But I AM VERY heartened to see great guitars in this particular body shape being made again by G&L. I'm not the only one who over the years posted on the potential success of G&L not only making - but perhaps being distinguished by making - killer "Mustang" body uber-"Fender" instruments. I'm stoked even though I don't need a modern one.

In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out the set-neck newbies. But unless I actually try them (which I hope to someday but have not yet) I can't imagine contributing anything useful there. Ha! - ed

That is a beautiful SC-2 Darwin, Certainly not Belair green, but still very nice lol. Like a few have mentioned, I too had to shorten the strap just a bit, the guitar hung a little low at first but still balanced well. I find it hard to believe just how much I have fallen in love with mine, the SC-2 is really an amazing guitar.

Scott, I'm sure that your sparkling shining beauty of an SC-2 would get people squinting even if they weren't trying to read the headstock :D
