Food For Thought
Today while at AG&B a fellow was showing his Les Paul to one of the salesmen. I took a quick look at it and pulled Tim, the salesman I work with to the side. I told him, "that is a fake Les Paul". He said "Yes, we know" as the guy was showing his newly discovered fake Les Paul to them. It was a very nice looking guitar but the first flag to me was a 3 hole truss plate. Also the Knobs were out of alignment and upon closer inspection, the Gibson logo was not perfect. The guy later came over and talked to me and told me that he was suspicious of it when he bought it. He obviously paid more for it that he should have. It was a Chinese copy and the case was beautiful with the Gibson logo. Anyone ever seen or aware of a fake G&L? Hopefully that is something that we don't have to worry about. I saw a fake double neck Fender not long ago and it was a pretty convincing knock off. I would be flattered if someone would fake me. -- Darwin.

You could put a Gibson logo on many of the Epiphones or Tokai's and fool a large number of people. Some might argue you'd get a better guitar, but I'm staying out of that one.
While the price of 2nd hand G&L's remains reasonable I don't think there's much incentive to try and fake one. That's not to say you couldn't do it.......
