Hey guys I have been looking at one of these....

And Malekko says to use "a 9V 200ma 2.1 negative tip regulated adapter" to power it and I am just wondering if I could use the same power adapter that came with my BBE Green Screamer?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
hey Malekko why you gottta be so mean?

200 mA is a fairly big draw, most pedals are already tip negative though. A traditional Ibanez screamer is tip positive, not sure if BBE took it that far though. Assuming they use the same adapter for all pedals BBE is a 2A (2000 mA) tip negative, should be fine. More than enough power there.

Sirmy is correct tho Ibanez pedals are tip negative as all Boss & BBE pedals. DOD pedals & Yamaha products (like keybrds & 4 tracks) are the tip positive.
As far as current (A, mA) requirements go, you just have to make sure there's sufficient current available - more is fine as the pedal will only draw the amount it requires.
Hope this help,
Kf

Re: hey Malekko why you gottta be so mean?
Well, looks like the power adapter that came with my BBE Green Screamer didn't work.
It lights up fine but on or off does nothing, I don't think I fried the pedal because it works using the battery so I am gonna try another power adapter before I contact Malekko about it.
on that same note it seems like there is a high nearly imperceptible squeal that increases as the time increases and vice versa, when I couldn't get it to work with the adapter I cranked the internal gain (I backed it off after) but could that be a cause or is a little background noise like that inherent in some delays?
All that aside it is a pretty fantastic pedal, feels as sturdy as the Green Screamer, knobs turn well and in the dead of night plugged into my vox amplug and ASAT I was able to get some of those sounds featured in the demo as well as a nice echoy sounding slapback.
It is actually more usable then I would have expected, those crazy sounds are still there but they are just not unavoidable.

Squeeling generally means your input gain is too high. As it has a trim you are golden. Depending on the gitar or effects loop it may need to be quite low. I can see no reason why the adapter does not work, the only pedal I have had that does that is the EH micro synth, and that only doesn't work when daisy chained (for some reason they don't work in daisy chains, not even sure how that is wired but it can be modded away, apparently.

managed to get in touch with PGS, turns out it is the pedal and not the adapter at all that was the problem.
I guess that part was DOA or disconnected during shipping but the pedal will still be replaced under warranty.
All in all its still a great delay and I am looking forward to getting one that works 100% now that I have a taste of what it can sound like.

Hey i didn't get a chance to cap this off but now that I have a computer working again I figure I should.
For anyone looking at powering a Malekko do yourself a favor and just get a BOSS PSA.
It is still an awesome pedal there are probably other pedals that do some sounds better (slapback for instance) but the sheer level of spaciness I prefer this one.
PGS ended up just refunding me but they had a sale immediately after so I lost nothing ordering the second one.
The trim pot is very good as well.
I think that about wraps this one up, thanks again for all the help guys.

don't ever get a boss psa. or pos as it really should be called. there are much better power supplies out there, but the one that comes with the bbe pedals works fine too. if you ever try a tc electronic flashback, you'll be wanting to shoot yourself for getting the malekko.Ahryn wrote:Hey i didn't get a chance to cap this off but now that I have a computer working again I figure I should.

Re: hey Malekko why you gottta be so mean?
Considered the Flashback, I might get that as well one day or hold out for a superdelay (I wanted my first delay to be simple and fun), weirdly enough even on my second Malekko the BBE adapter just wouldn't work, no sound.
There are probably better ones but my local music place only had the PSA and an instore brand that introduced alot of hiss.
of the two the PSA worked, in everything else the BBE adapter was king.

Boring! (IMHO, of course.)
