ASAT pickups..

Post by guitarrich »

Hi, Can I get a usa ASAT with standard ' classic MFD pu's ' (not high output type) and a saddle-lock bridge ? Looking at G&Ls line on thier site, this looks unavailable. Would it take a special order ? Thanks, Rich :?

The closest thing I've seen to that was in a picture posted in another thread where one of the lads from Status Quo has a saddle-lock bridge fitted to take the place of the saddles on a traditional ash tray bridge. The pickup was still in the bridge plate. It'd be pretty neat to see a proper one.

Something like what you have described, if not exact, has been available at some point. I am not sure whether this is not a variation of the ashtray looking at the picture. At least it is not the larger regular ashtray that some people do not like. The G&L website does not show this model in the Custom Creations section:

Here is a link to the thread and an image for reference:

Yum!! (The Asat, not Rossi) - is that (or a solid version of it) your SRV Asat, right there?
+ it could be derived from a Z3, as per my 2c in your SRV - sound thread.

The ASAT III had that arrangement, though it's not a current model. And the pickups were S500 pickups if I remember correctly.

It is a picture that is the flash page when you first come to this website (http://guitarsbyleo.com) . <= That link may take you right to it. I don't know how to navigate to it once inside the forum. I had the page bookmarked and I see it every time I want to visit here.

It was not a G&L Custom Creations model. It was conceived by some of the members of the original G&LDP as a Limited Edition model and build by the G&L factory. See www.guitarsbyleo.com Limited Edition.

Hope this helps.

No, that model does not exist as a standard G&L model nor as a Special Build or Limited Edition, either. You might ask a G&L dealer to see if G&L will do a special build of one for you.

Hope this helps.

Just click on the Home Page button at the top, as long as used http://www.guitarsbyleo.com (which is the Home Page) to get to the site to start with. If you use a direct link to the G&L Forum (aka G&LDP), you
will need to go to the guitarsbyleo site first.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Craig but I was referring to the Custom Creations section of the G&L website not stating that it was a G&L Custom Creations model. Under the CC section is where the Limited Edition and Special Build concepts are described and at least some of them are listed. This one is not. There is also a column for Special Builds next to the Limited Editions but the neck has "LE" on the headstock.

Craig,

Not sure what you are describing. Once you are inside the forum there isn't a Home Page button. If you start at the guitarsbyleo . com page you would see the picture anyway and would not be looking for it from another location and then the only way to that page once inside the forum would be using the Back button on your browser........at least on my system. Now I am writing this obviously logged in. I am going to try this logged off the forum to see whether there is anything different... ...Okay I tried it logged off and there still is not a Home button and navigation is the same.

The instruments listed in the Custom Creations section, regardless of whether they are Limited Editions or Special Builds,
are all "Custom Creations" instruments. They were conceived, designed and built by the G&L Custom Creations factory team.
The GbL_LE was not conceived nor designed by the CC factory team. That is why this particular guitar is not listed on the
G&L Custom Creations section of the website. Just because it has "LE" in the model name does not mean it should have
been listed in the Limited Edition section of the Custom Creations page.

Hope this clarifies what I was trying to convey.

Thanks Craig. This history requires the detailed explanation to see the difference. Appreciated!
