new asat? disappointment.........

Post by frederick j »

this is my 3rd asat , ordered a new white, rwd board, classic custom. the guitar came last week, its beautiful , and like the others easy to play, and sounds great. my problem, the pots they used where split shaft aluminum. all the othes i have bought were brass, solid shafts. the reason i noticed when i turned the knobs they wobbled all over. man whats up with this? in order to facilitate the attachment of the knobs someone put a paper thin, cut to length, piece of brass tubing over the shaft , and called it good . did they run out of solid shafts? did they raid the legacy stock pile? are they trying to save a little money? these are not cheap guitars, but atleast my last two were , are very well made instruments. i truly hope the economy hasn't forced this company to downsize thier qaulity, like so many seem to be doing. i have wriiten the dealer, and sent a letter to mr. grom, alerting him to my situation. the dealer said he would see that i got the correct parts. so, its a wait and see. i truly hope this was an isolated event, thanks for letting me vent

Frederick, I am sorry to hear that. I just checked out the G&L Online Store and their potentiometer page lists that solid shaft pots are supposed to be used with ASAT (or more generally non-plastic knobs). So to me it looks like you are entirely correct to complain.

yo.........., just so you know, mr. grom, director of manuf. just emailed me, he's sending two solid shaft pots to me , no charge. my ax will be 100%, and i'm impressed the company responded so quickly, and in a positive way. maybe there's hope for the world yet...................

I was the one who contacted Steve and send him your email address.

Glad it worked out for you, as I knew it would.
