humbucking Tele neck pup?

Post by BadJaxx »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have a G&L ASAT Classic S and am thinking of replacing the neck pup with a humbucking single coil size...
i've checked Dimarzio and Duncan sites and it seems the Dimarzio Area T would be my choice...
what other options are out there?
must fit the current route...
looking for a smooth tone...not high output
a Seth Lover in Tele neck pup size...lol

IF you talk to Duncan custom shop I am sure they can whip you something up for a price (160$ iirc), Vintage vibe pickups also does hand wound stuff (cheaper iirc), Klein may also have something interesting.

Hi Jaxx. Your Classic S has a 'swimming pool' style route (like a modern stratocaster) so you could get a full sized humbucker in it and all you'd have to cut up is the pick-guard. Just thought I'd mention that before you spend $$$ getting a custom pickup wound... I've tried a few of those single-coil sized humbuckers (albeit the ones made for a strat) and I've always been disappointed because none of them sounded humbuckery (smooth, mellow, warm to my ears) enough - of course. YMMV. .

oh wow...i was gonna ask how it was routed but was sure it was single routes...
i do like the way it sounds now...but a nice bucker in the neck will kill off the GAS for a Thinline style...
i'd buy a new pickguard pre-made for a neck bucker...
