Lunch Report Tuesday June 28, 2011
Lunch on "Day 2": Well I got a late start, so I'm still pounding coffee. Lunch will consist of food; preferably edible in nature... Can you eat a guitar? Maybe G&L chocolate guitars - Think about it. No, don't.
Alex Skolnick is my artist of the day. I dig his work; especially his bluesy licks and early Testament leads. He currently uses a Les Paul Classic, PRS & something else. I like the Classic, but no PRS experience. His amp is a Rivera 212 combo & no effects except for the wah(hmmm. I'm looking at grabbing a ( http://www.bbesound.com/products/stomp-boxes/wah.aspx BBE Wah ) and sometimes plays a Gibson L5 Hollowbody. I have to get me one of those...
Non-music Subject O' The Day: Photography. Most of my pictures are of cloud formations and nature.
I've been using a Leica and Brownie, lately. Here are two insect pics:
------------------------------------------------
Hideous Picture O' T Day: Just to get it out of the way.
Look at that jacket; eighties much? The guy next to me was the sound man. This was a rehearsal shot. Actually, in Levi's band I started on percussion. He is known as the "Father of Caribbean Pop". My musical background contained none of this influence, so I learned quite a bit...
Cheers,
Will

Will, great pictures of bugs. My internet has had bugs today. I just got it working but it took a lot of isolation. Bugs are interesting and I don't like to kill them other than Mosquitoes. I always think of these little creatures as having mates and kids!
Interesting to know that life started as a percussionist. You had the cool look of the eighties. A good percussionist is a great asset to a band.
Was the sound man reading charts or was he taking a nap? These guys sometimes have a rough schedule so you never know. Joking of course!-- Darwin

Duck: Nice moth on aloe. I've seen that type. Great dalmatian-look to it...
Darwin: Yeah, I took a leap to get out there. I was playing acoustic guitar at coffee shops as well... That guy was in demand, but was just killing time in that shot.
Cheers,
Will

Nice pics Will. I like that Darth Vader/black dildo head fly.
I'd love to play in Caribbean pop band, or a Latin band of any description. That music is something else, I'm sure I'd learn a lot.

Bugs....
On the hood of the Jetta under our driveway light. By the time I was done, he was startin' to take a slightly aggressive stance.

Great insect photos!!! The insect world is totally amazing. The variety is astounding.
I'm as bad a photographer as I am a musician. I stick mostly to flowers and fish.

Wow Ed, talk about right place at the right time to snap that fish travelling cross country.
Nice shots of the insects guys.
Like Ed, my camera lenses mainly restrict me to plants and other subjects that don't complain or move (much).

Blarg: They get a few times bigger than that too. Look at those spikes in the front; no thanks...
Ken: Hey, wasn't that guy in "Tropic Thunder"? Mantids are schweet!
Darwin: Buggin' out!
Zap: Nice slideshow!
Philby: Nice pix. Cacti and succulents can be bizarre-looking up close...

Which Leica are you using, Will? I don't do much macro photography anymore (flower or insects) but those are great pics. I have a couple of old rangefinders (Yashica GT and Canonet GIII) but I haven't acquired a Leica yet, almost picked up an old M3 in Montreal, but I'm still holding out for a good deal on some vintage kit.

I have an old Yashica 120mm (ground glass screen) that takes really nice photos. The film is hard to find and it is expensive to get developed. - ed

Does it use Carl Zeiss's "Top Secret Project 130" technology? Yeah, I read that on Wikipedia... So, do you keep film stashed in the crisper too? Ha!
