ASAT Special w/ Bigsby?... about to take the plunge!

Post by TvontheRadiohead »

So i've decided i'm gonna go the G&L custom order route and order an ASAT Special, but i'm thinking about ordering it with a bigsby. Has anyone done this? does it take away from the tone at all? I know it's not as heavy as the normal bridge.

I am a Bigsby fan and have an ASAT Z-3 with a Bigsby. I love it. I also had a Bluesboy that I put an F Bigsby on and it was awesome. I believe the Bigsby actualy added sustain to the Bluesboy . The Z-3 is chambered and very light. The Bluesboy was alder and quite heavy. If I were to custom order I would order the chambered body with the Bigsby and also locking tuners and you will find it very stable. If you were to have concerns about the Bigsby I would go with the DF but the Bigsby rules and it will not take away from the tone and will probably add to sustain as it has several mounting points to the body. My opinion for what it's worth. -- Darwin
