Hello All;
I have a 2010 ASAT Classic. I experimented with a different bridge pickup for a month or so, but decided to go back to the original MFD. When playing I notice a hum when either the bridge or the neck pickup are selected. There is no hum when both pickups are selected (middle position). I swear I don't remember the hum previously on the neck or bridge pickups. Those of you who have not changed out pickups, does your ASAT Classic hum in the neck or bridge position? My tech is good and knows what he is doing. Maybe I'm going crazy!

Make sure the ground wire under the bridge is making contact with the bridge.rossman wrote:Hello All;

Re: ASAT Classic Hum
This may be a stupid question but are you sure it is not just normal single coil hum? If so that would explain why there is no hum when both pickups are engaged.
Does the hum go away when you touch the strings?

Re: ASAT Classic Hum
Yup, mine hums except in the middle position. It's about average as far as my other single coil guitars go. I can change the amount of hum depending on my orientation relative to the amp.
It also gets worse when I take my hand off the strings. And I can make the neck pickup crackle by rubbing the scratchplate with my picking hand (static electricity earthing out?).
Next string change I'm gonna take a look at the wiring.

Thanks eddie. Not a stupid question at all. The hum is there with or without touching the strings. I had a Lil 59 in the bridge for a month or so and I guess I got so used to hearing the humbucker that I forgot how it should sound normally. Thanks for all the replies.suave eddie wrote:This may be a stupid question but are you sure it is not just normal single coil hum?
