This week keeps marching on by. I may have some interesting news tomorrow... ...or not. Depends on how productive I am today.
Lunch: (well, breakfast)
Beef sausage with Dijon mustard on a hamburger bun. Sauerkraut. Brooke Bond Taj Mahal tea.
G&L:
Cases. People don't talk about them that much, probably because they're more interested in what's inside.
Question: What's your favorite G&L case? Why?
Video:
Here's the only show my wife has agreed to appear in. Notice the shoe at top right.

...does that really count as an appearance?
Fire works really well. It's no surprise that an early commercially popular long shot ambient video was the yule log.

That one doesn't have music over it, which is nice.

Favorite G&L case: I have the standard case for my 1984 El Toro fretless and the "student" case for the 1984 SB-2 (first style). I prefer the standard case, though the "student" case has been fine for my not so demanding needs.

The G&G cases that are standard are my favorite, they are are built like a tank and keep the guitar snug as a bug.
All of my other guitar cases look like toys compared to the G&G case.

Nice work on the videos. I dig the rickshaws too. My molded hardshell case works for me. I have Calton's TKL's, SKB's & soft backpack types, but that one works for my only G&L at the moment. My next one will be ready in..........

One of my guitars, my Silver Metallic Legacy Special, has a aftermarket TKL black vinyl case with the leather ends--like a Fender or G&G case. Most of my guitars are from the mid-to-late '90s and have the smooth plastic SKB case. I have one smooth SKB case for my first Legacy with the rack-style rotating latches instead of the loop-style, obviously a transitional model from the early 90's; I would think 1992-1993 . And I have a couple that have the ridged hard plastic case. I think these came with the guitars that are probably the oldest.
For some reason I like the older ridged cases--they have a lot of storage room inside and they just seem to be a bit nicer than the smooth plastic cases.
That said, of the cases I have, I like the smooth plastic SKB cases the best. They are lightweight, and they are super protective. They slide in and out of the van easliy; when I'm packing five or six guitars to a gig, to have all the cases "playing nice" together makes things easier.
I haven't bought a G&L for a while, so I'm not sure about the newer cases. But of the older ones, the smooth hard plastic SKB case is definitely my favorite. Might not be as retro or as deluxe as the G&G style, but I like the light weight and the practicality.
Well, Brock--I don't know if the shoe really does it for me. Now, naked toes gyrating around the fire pit--ah, much more interesting! LOL!
Good job!

I like the G&G cases better, with a slight preference for the tweed version for certain models: 2- and 3-tone Sunburst Legacy's and Butterscotch ASAT's. Unfortunately, the tweed case can no longer be purchased from the web store, but the tolex ones are terrific too. As far as the thermoplastic 'SKB' cases are concerned, I have a preference for the previous version, with a large G&L in bas relief in the top lid, over the current one with the red G&L oval under the handle bar. Reason being it is easier to store a strap in the longer, single compartment of the former compared to the 2 compartments of the latter. But then again, I've had a couple of the older SKB models that seems to be 'sweating' especially around the end strap button leaving a sticky, yucky residue on the guitars. Don't know whether that is an 'age' thing since these cases were both more than a decade old.
But there is a more practical reason why I prefer the G&G cases. You can store 5 G&L's in G&G cases in the same space as 4 G&L's in thermoplastic cases!
