How To Identufy the DSF Vibrato

I did a complete setup on the new Blonde today. It was set at .070, low E and 060, high E. This is the first Legacy that I had to shim the neck on. I now have it at .045 and .050 high and low E respectively. I could now raise the saddles to where they should be and the DF is perfect. This brings up a question, the saddles on this are different on my other Legacys. The saddles are perfectly machined and chromed, much like a Fender American Deluxe Strat. The saddles also have a narrower slot in the center. The chome plating is to kill for, flawless with no pits underneath as sometimes found. So, have they change the saddles recently, or could this be a DFS. It is a special order guitar andf has a body date of 6-03-2010. The neck date is 4-29-2010. Will be happy to wait when Craig gets back but I am curious. The build quality on this is outstanding and a very low action with perfect frets. It is now really a player. I was not happy with it as it was. After shimming I adjusted the bridge and middle Kinmans a bit to balance the level. All is well--Darwin

I found a post by Craig on identifying the DFS. This is not a DFS as the DFS saddles are not plated but machined SS. These are definitely chrome plated but are different from any other Legacy saddles that I have ever seen. They must have made a change but this is a DF. Craig will let us know when he gets back. These saddles are seriously better looking than the previous saddles. Sorry if I confused anyone but some of us are too curious!! -Darwin

beautiful looking guitar. too bad BBE chose to do away with the micro-tilt neck. no shims needed. another better idea courtesy of Mr. Fullerton, bastardized by Fender in the 70's with shoddy neck pockets that doomed the system to fail, and a rebirth at G&L in the Leo days.

The bridge saddles were changed in 2007 (first in the US models and then later in the Tributes), see:

Hmmm...that explains it! I noticed these on my new Legacy and just assumed the design had been updated, but it's interesting to see the post. And I agree, the chrome plated trem arm does look sharp! I still like the other one on my '98 Legacy, but do prefer the new one. And while I have no problem with the old saddles, I do like the new ones.
