Ordering 101

So it looks like I am going to order a guitar. After searching around this seems to require going through a dealer somewhere and there does not appear to be an option to do this online even through any of the dealer's websites. Does anyone know of a custom G&L order form available online that I can use to make sure I have all of the options considered in advance?

EDIT: I know I can go through the various screens at a few websites, including G&L's, but the actual order form the dealer uses would have every detail they look for. Of course I can stop by and pick one up locally if there is not one to download and print.

It looks like Buffalo Bros' G&L Options page needs some updating.

So...

What I'd recommend is that you simply figure out what you want based on what is available on G&L's guitar page, finishes page, and options page.

Then call Buffalo Bros.and place your order.

He is extremely helpful.
I just went through the same process. The most difficult thing you will run into is being able to actually try the different neck profiles hands-on. Other than that the other options are pretty straight forward.

The only items on Buffalo Bros webpage that seemed out of date were the nut options (bone nut being standard now) and the new custom case being standard also.

There are other options missing, too:

Stainless steel frets, EMG 85/81 humbucker set : available on ASAT Deluxe / Semi-Hollow, Invader XL / Deluxe, Legacy HB2, black pearl pickguard, Light Tint Gloss neck, DFS Vibrato Upgrade.

Always best to refer to G&L's Option pages before placing an order.

There is no such G&L order form online that I know of.
I'd suggest you find a local G&L dealer (see G&L's main website for US dealer and distributor info). That way you can try out different
models and hopefully with different options. Ask them if they have some of the various neck size options, so that you can try
them out, too.

Speaking of neck sizes, I do want a wider neck. I can understand experiencing the difference between all of the #1s and #2s at 1 5/8" compared to the #3 at 1 11/16" and #4 at 1 3/4" however the difference of 1/16th" between the #3 and #4 is pretty negligible. (BTW on two prominent G&L Dealer websites I have seen information that conflicts with that found on the G&L web page swapping #3 and #4 specs (...extra wide, wide, 1 3/4" ,1 11/16", #3, #4).

The 1/16th from 3 to 4 is the same as 1/16th from 1 or 2 to 3. I think it makes a difference, and much prefer wider nut widths myself. I have a #3 and it is quite nice, the thick carve is very comfy and great for cruising at light speed.
