Strat sized humbuckers?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Strat sized humbuckers?

Post by VBLGSD »

Considering putting humbuckers in my 1995 Legacy as I really like everything about it except for that the pickups can be pretty noisy.

Does anyone have any suggestions for replacement pickups? Ultimately I am looking for something that sounds as close to the original strat sound with less noise.

Bill Lawrence is my go to guy for pickups. Everything he makes is hum-free. His newest design, the Micro-Coil, is a thing of beauty and are the best pickups I've ever used. They're true single coils and sound like it, but made in a way in that hum isn't a problem. His Keystone line are also very popular, but I haven't tried them (.....yet, I have a set that should be arriving tomorrow). His prices are unbeatable too - don't be fooled into thinking that because they're cheap they're not as good as the rest of these boutique guys. IMO, they're much better!

Beyond blargs suggestion, you can also convert your Legacy to a Legacy Special by buying a set of G&L's Dual Blade Humbuckers available in the online store. As an owner of a Legacy Special, I can certainly vouch for these pups.

Hope this helps,
