Pickup mod- suggestions/comments?

Been planning a pickguard/pickup conversion where I can swap out the pickguard (thanks for the idea Blarg) on my Tribute ASAT Classic from time to time with one that has a mini humbucker (GFS vintage) in the neck position. After getting the pickup and pickguard (and before beginning any work) I had a different thought.

Since I love the MFD in the neck position so much, I started thinking about moving it to a middle position and putting the mini in the neck. I suppose I could lessen the work a bit (i.e., routing the body) by leaving the MFD in the neck and putting the mini in the middle. Any thoughts or comments? Any of you tried a similar setup?

I think it's a very good idea - the neck mini-HB, middle and bridge MFDs, it'd be like a G&L version of Brent Masons famous tele I had that setup in a guitar for quite a while and it was fantastic.

I'd imagine (though I haven't tried it so could be wrong) that a humbucker in the middle could be a bit weird. Moving the MFD there would most likely give you more usable tones BUT before you do that make sure that the pole-peices line up with the strings in that position!!!!! If they don't you might have to source an S-500 or other middle pickup.
