I just set my MFD's on my ASAT Special like my Strat and I do think it gave a better overall balanced sound. My amp tends to be a little on the bass side so I had my B and high E strings pole pieces backed out a little more than the others before this change but I think the custom stagger seems to have a better overall sound now.
How do you have your pole pieces set up? Damn, Is there any way to get around saying pole pieces and up in this discussion?
Anyone set up their MFD with "custom stagger" like Fender?

The beauty of the MFDs is that you can tailor the stagger. I spent a bit of time doing it and now I have very good balance. I didn't copy the stagger of the vintage Fender pickups - that stagger was designed for guitars with a 7.5" radius fretboard which means that it wouldn't be optimum on a guitar with a 12" 'board, like mine.

I do like the option and ease of the adjustable pieces on the MFDs. Good point on the FB radius. My strat is 9.5 and the ASAT is a 9.0 so they are pretty close. I think the way I have it now is at least a very good point to start from. Think I was kind of haphazard with my former approach.
