30th Anniversary Bluesboy tuners

Post by stratmaster »

Hi, I haven't been on this site in awhile, hope everyone is doing well. I have a quick question. Does anyone know if G&L offers the Schaller locking tuners with the pearl button for the 30th Anniversary Bluesboy? I've been searching Shaller's site, G&L and other sites to no avail. It is my understanding the non locking schaller tuners on this guitar were special made for it. I'd like to replace them with Schaller locking tuners with the pearl button. Thanks for any info.

Hi Al,

"30th Anniversary Bluesboy" ?? I didn't think that a Bluesboy was an option model for the 30th Anniversary range. See here:

Cheers.

Al, if they are the G&L logo tuners you can buy the Schaller locking tuners from Stew Mac. The pearl buttons are available as a separate item. __ Darwin

Thank you both for responding. Bill, there is a 30th Anniversary Bluesboy, I own one. Here is a link to AxePalace and this is a pic of the actual guitar I bought. http://www.axepalace.com/proddetail.asp ... lacbb_30th

It's a nice guitar.

Darwin, thank you for the tip. Yes they have the G&L logo on the tuners. I will check out Stew Mac. Thanks so much.

Have a great day,
Al

Hi Al,

Very nice indeed. G&L need to update their web pages then. Great looking guitar. I'm promising myself a Bluesboy someday, but was thinking maybe Blackburst with black pickguard, black pickup covers, figured maple top, and wood binding. One day.

Hi Folks,

Just followed up Al's link above to The Axe Palace and explored a bit to find this one labelled as a "G&L USA ASAT Deluxe 'Blackburst' Flame":

Image

and this one labelled as a "G&L USA ASAT Deluxe 'Blackburst' Flame (Maple Board)":

Image

Surely the second one is a 'quilted' maple top and not a 'flame' maple top?

Thanks.

You're entirely correct Bill. You can refer to both as a figured maple top though ;)

I guess you missed the announcement post I posted in the Public Service Announcements sub-forum (on Nov 30, 2010):
New Models Added to G&L 30th Anniversary Collection.

There was such a short notice about this, that G&L did not have time to get photos shot of these new editions and
update their website before the order cutoff date of December 31, 2010.

Thanks for confirming that Jos. I'm keen to have a Bluesboy made up with a figured maple top in blackburst, but can't decide on 'quilted' or 'flame'. Any thoughts anyone? My ASAT Special Deluxe in blueburst has a flame maple top (although the finish is a little dark), and I thought maybe the quilted maple would look pretty good on a Bluesboy.

Al, I bet that if you buy the Schaller locking tuners the original pearl buttons will fit on the locking tuners. -- Darwin

Thanks Darwin, I hadn't thought of that. I will check into that also. I appreciate your help....This is a good forum. I was a member here a few years ago and it's full of knowledgable people and great advice.

Have a great day..
