Remember that Aluninum Guard I had made (Paging Darwinohm)

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Remember that Aluninum Guard I had made (Paging Darwinohm)

Post by sirmyghin »

I got my pickguard done folks, after a bunch of trial fits and such between the builder and I due to a poor stock guitar that got away with a lot by virtue of being plastic. After UPS destroyed one, and all that. Fantastic customer service was the name of the game, and this guy wins. We had a lot of conversation. I will let the pictures speak for themselves though. The results are much better than I imagined they would be. The black and orange is THE combination.

You got it , anodized aluminum, we tried to keep it fairly satin (it does have a bit of shine to it though). Throught you would appreciate it, knowing your... large love of beautiful guitars.

This is awesome. My only thought, what about getting your guy to do a control plate that matches? It's awesome with the chrome--but....

Nice!. I always liked the orange finish and matching headstock. Looks killer with the new pickguard. Who did the pickguard work?

A guy named Taylor, does it on the side, so to speak. I can give you his email if you would like to talk with him. Not a formal company for this type of work, I met him on the seven string guitar forum.

The problem there in is that the bridge would still be chrome, and the tuners are chrome. So I will probably leave that as is, unless I somehow got the bridge black plated too.

Sirmy, I was so struck by the new pickguard that I forgot to mention your pooch. Great looking dog and he or she is photogenic. Looking at your guitar again and it is a beauty. If mine, I would look at the black tuner knobs from Stew-Mac for the Schaller tuners. I would leave the control plate and bridge chrome but black tuner knobs could push it over the edge.--Darwin.

Might be something for the future there Darwin, The pooch (aptly named Loki) likes to sneak into any picture you are taking, I am sure he has popped up in many of my gear posts here, and know he has elsewhere. If you try to take a picture of him however, he pretends to be not interested and won't look at you.
