the G&L necks these days are so gorgeous--the "unfinished" maple ones especially, that have a certain whiteness to them...

That is a gorgeous Legacy :luv: . I've always had GAS for sonic blue guitars with maple neck and board.

I hate to rain on your parade, but in about 5 years time that lovely white neck will be a yellow/honey colour. I base this prophecy on my 2003 ASAT Tribute Special which also had a stark white neck when new, and nearly blond body. I actually called her 'Blondie' as a kitten. Now look at her! She's grown up and gone all ginger on me.... It's normal light induced yellowing and it happens to all woods.

The Legacy HB I just got has a plain maple neck on it, too. I like it well enough, but I was kind of hoping it would "tan" a bit over time, so that's good news to me, Philby!!

Muleya, leave her near a window over summer to speed up the tanning process, but don't let her get too hot from direct sunlight. She'll have a tan before you know it.

I love maple boards, with maple being really the only thing I want to play on. IMO, they only get better with age, in both looks and sound. Congrats, on the great looking Legacy JQB, very nice indeed!

I agree, absolutely love the neck and how white it is, my other is gun oiled so this one really surprised me how nice it looks.

oh, I don't mind if the neck darkens over time. I have a feeling this neck will only get better with age.....

It makes me wish I didn't get the gun-oil tint on the neck on my others, they're going to be black in 10 years time!

Is that the new one, astutzman? Looks great!!!

The knobs look different...are they clear speed knobs? Or is it just the way it came out in the pics?

Cool! I put Schaller Strap Locks on mine as soon as I got it, as well!

How'd you get it with a DiMarzio pickup in it? I'm assuming this is the new one you had on order? If that's the case, I wish I had known...I thought my only option in the bridge of my Legacy HB was the SD JB. In the end it's all good, though, I'm actually pretty happy with the pickup. Though knowing me I'll try putting in the DiMarzio Mo' Joe I've got laying around at some point, or maybe even something else!!

no, the new one I have on order is an ASAT SPECIAL DELUXE

This legacy I got a few months ago, its a 2009 and the guy bought it new from a store in march 2010, so I think of it as being 1 year old.

He put the DiMarzio in it and had a professional setup done. When I got it, it was perfect. He also send along the original G&L bridge pickup so I have that for a project sometime.

Feel bad for the guy, he had this and an ASAT Classic, both with the DiMarzio in the bridge and he had to sell them. Someone else already got the classic.

I played it today after it had sat for a few weeks, it was perfectly in tune and I love it.
