Is it just me...

Post by LKJ »

... or am I going crazy. Found the chart in the knowledge base on wrenches used for adjustments. Got a 2006 Tribute ASAT Classic, and it looks like I need a 1mm hex wrench for the saddles. Looked in the gig bag from the previous owner and found unopened a plastic bag with 2 hex wrenches- 1 for the pup pole pieces and 1 for the truss rod. So I went to the Home Depot and other places looking for a 1mm wrench- no luck 1.5 was the smallest I could find. A quick web search (including Stew Mac, Allparts and even the dreaded GC) and still nothing.

Any of you know a source for this little creature? Or is this just one of those initiation rights all newbs go through?

Try a hobby shop or maybe an electronics place, both often carry very small tools.

You're probably no crazier than the rest of us.

I did a search of Digikey, who would stand as good a chance as any of having such a thing (precision tool) and could find nothing.

I'll get a message off to the factory and see what we can find out. I'll reply back here as soon after getting a response as possible.

Apparently, a 1mm hex allen wrench is commonly used for miniature motors. So I'd echo Blarg in trying a hobby shop. Or search for precision tools or precision screwdriver sets (like for watch makers) and you'll find hits on Amazon. Here is an example.

Hope this helps,

I just checked the set for my Legacy SH and found that the smallest wrench is 1.5mm. It's the only wrench in the tool kit supplied
with this Legacy that has the size stamped on it. :searching:

I have corrected the chart in the Knowledgebase.

Thanks for bring this to our attention.

Craig,

Thanks for the follow up. This is a "relief" as the 1.5's are a dime a dozen (...well not literally speaking). You almost can't pick up a metric set of hex wrenches without them having the 1.5 as the smallest one.

What a great board we got here.
