new F-100 pot/cap values?
Anyone know the pot and cap values for the new F-100? I've got a couple of the new F-100 pickups and want to use them with the newer, simplified control circuit in an original body. From the original F-100 wiring diagrams it looks like the volume would be a 250k, but I'm not sure what to use for the push/pull pot. This assumes, of course, that the old and new versions of these pickups have the same specs. Any thoughts?

I am checking with the factory about this. I think the Picture Diagram in the Gallery is for the Custom Creations F-100 Returnluminapw wrote:Anyone know the pot and cap values for the new F-100? Edition. I have asked for clarification of that, too.
Stay tuned.

I've heard back from John Toner:Craig wrote:I am checking with the factory about this. I think the Picture Diagram in the Gallery is for the Custom Creations F-100 Return Edition. I have asked for clarification of that, too.

The current wiring diagram represents the Return Edition and the standard production F-100.
Both the volume and tone pots are 500k.
The tone capacitor is .047.
The volume capacitor is 201K.
Note: the F-100 spec page is not current and does not reflect the Push/Pull Tone pot for splitting the humbucker pickups.
Hope this helps.

Craig- Many thanks! It will be interesting to compare the sound of this setup to that of the original F-100. I'll keep you posted.

Re: new F-100 pot/cap values?
Just out of curiosity, where did you get your new F-100 pickups? They're not on the G&L spare parts page in their on-line shop.
I've been wondering whether or not to try to track down a couple of the newer pickups for my 1981 F-100. The current pickups go microphonic with a little bit of gain. So I've thought about seeing how easy it is to open them and see about potting them. But at the same time, they seem a little on the dull side to me, too, even for humbuckers, so I've been wondering if a wholesale replacement isn't in order.
Does anyone have any experience with new mfd humbuckers versus old ones? Do they pretty much sound the same, or are there some differences?
I've also considered redoing the electronics to be a bit simpler, but I've decided I would only do that if I had a replacement control plate I could build them on, so I could just lift out the current electronics as-is and save them in a safe place, in case I ever wanted to restore to stock. I don't reckon G&L would have any 1981-style chrome F-100 control plates lying around?
Thanks for any help or insight.

Re: new F-100 pot/cap values?
I came by mine thru ebay. I bought an F-100 project that was a mess, except for the pickups which the seller told me he recently got new from the factory. I've never had any microphonic issues with the old ones, but opening them up for potting would be pretty easy.
