case for ASAT

Post by LKJ »

Anyone know if hard shell cases for a Fender tele will work for a Tribute ASAT?

Thanks...

Yes, it should fit the ASAT fine, and they will also very likely work fine for Legacy type of guitars as well.

I have revisited this before, so to be sure I checked an ASAT in one of my Fender cases, the Fender rectangular TSA lock case. If you use a Fender case you most likely will damage the headstock on the ASAT. The G&L guitars are more than an inch longer than a Fender due to the length of the headstock. You may be able to close the lid but the top of headstock will hit the aluminum strip on the case. I recall trying this a couple of years ago as I had extra Fender cases. To be sure, I checked again. I would not do it but bite the bullet and buy a G&L case.-- Darwin

Darwin is quite correct, stick with a G&L case.

You might want to also check out our Instrument Cases Album in the Gallery.

Hope this helps.

Beside the G&L cases, I often use a SKB FS-6 case for the Legacy and the ASATs, because it's more compact. Putting the ASAT in, I can still put my finger between the alu strip and the top of the head stock. That case is molded for Telecaster and Stratocaster and may be found for the half of the price the G&L case costs. ;)
