Difference between G&L s-500 and s-500 deluxe?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Difference between G&L s-500 and s-500 deluxe?

Post by Anthony »

Hi

I don't really know that much about electric guitars, which means that I don't really understand the difference between the s-500 and the s-500 deluxe, aside from how it looks.
I already know that I want a s-500, so it would be great if someone could tell me the difference between these two models.

Thanks in advance

The main difference is the looks. The 'Deluxe' moniker is used by G&L when a maple top is used on models. You can find descriptions for the S-500 and S-500 Deluxe on the G&L website. You'll notice that the Deluxe always has a swamp ash body, capped by the maple top, and rear-mounted controls. The non-Deluxe version either has a swamp ash or alder body, depending on the finish, and controls mounted on the pickguard. The electronics, pickups and otherwise, are identical between the 2 models.

Hope this helps,
