Re: difference between asat deluxe and blues boy
Hi Rich,
This is taken straight from the Seymour Duncan page on the '59 model SH-1 and TB-59 page:
Hope this gives you enough on the history and differences between the neck pickups on the Deluxe and Bluesboy. Of course the Deluxe has an even hotter (compared to the SH-1) TB-4 in the bridge whereas the Bluesboy has a traditional sized MFD, which are completely different beasts all together.

This is taken straight from the Seymour Duncan page on the '59 model SH-1 and TB-59 page:
Reading the page on the original Blues Boy Rarebird, you'll learn why Tim Page (Tim Buffalo Brothers) used a Seth Lover SH-55 instead of a '59 as originally intended:Compared to the SH-55 Seth Lover, the '59 has slightly more scooped mids and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.
So according to this, the SH-55 on the Bluesboy is potted whereas the OEM SH-55 is not. When I was first working on the design of the Bluesboy we were looking at using the '59 Humbucker that Seymour Duncan makes as I had had good results with it in other instruments. Seymour Duncan was the one who highly recommended for the "best result" to NOT put two high gain pickups in one guitar of this design. He was right ~ it made for a much smoother sound and it was a great recommendation (along with having the humbucker potted). Tony at G&L was the one who helped figure out the ground plane issue.

Hope this helps.
