I always wondered what the tonewood on this ASAT classic is. I think the mfg. date is 2005. Everything I have read says that this tobacco sunburst finish would have an alder body, but it also says the mint PG on this guitar is not used for this guitar. So, I am thinking I have an ash classic with a mint PG, and a #2 flame maple neck. Since I got it used, I do not know for sure, but, maybe someone ordered it like this(?) If this picture is good enough, any help is much appreciated.

Looks like swamp ash, too much grain for alder.

Ash, the around the grain areas look too 'rough' and porous to be Alder.

It's Swamp Ash, for sure.hubcapserf wrote:I always wondered what the tonewood on this ASAT classic is. I think the mfg. date is 2005. It's possible that it is a Semi-Hollow body without f-hole and if so, then the body would definitely be Swamp Ash, regardless of the finish ordered. The other
possibility is that the original purchaser of the guitar ordered it with a Swamp Ash body.
Hope this helps.

That would also explain the mint PG.The other
possibility is that the original purchaser of the guitar ordered it with a Swamp Ash body.
Thanks everyone for your input.
