Hey All,
A buddy of mine brought his old bass over for me to fix. After getting as much information off of the bass as possible, I started doing a little research in order to see if I could find any wiring diagrams or specifications for "setup". It was then i realized that this bass is pretty rare!!
Can anyone out there tell me where I can find the items mentioned above and how to identify whether this bass is in fact a rare one?
This bass was purchased used in 1998 by my friend from a guy who got it when he was in high school in the early 80's. The only information he has on the bass is what is actually on the bass itself:
G&L L 2000 Series E / Made in Fullerton, CA (which happens to be about 30 minutes from where I grew up!!!!) / B008816 (found this number stamped into the metal on the bridge) / Pat. # 4220069 (found this number stamped into the metal on the side of the pickups).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: A Buddy's Bass.....is it a "rare" one?
From the serial # and the fact it has "E" on the headstock probably indicates it's an early one. I'm not sure of the rarity as these pop up for sale a number of times a year, but a great bass nonetheless, and now vintage Leo and George. The old G&L board had some information on these and there is also some in the new Knowledge Base. In case you haven't seen it here's a link to Greg Gagliano's site as he has quite the collection and overview of G&L's (other other guitars / amps). Post some pics if you get the chance and check the Registry for the approximate date range based on the serial #. Although as everyone will tell you the only sure way to know the dates is to pull the neck. I also remember a wiring diagram somewhere but hopefully others will chime in with more info.

you would need to put your pictures up on a site like Photobucket or other hosting site. Once they're up just use the "Img" tag and cut and paste the picture URL between the tags. Here's some other links that might be useful:
