Hi,
and at last, my ASAT classic custom has arrived today, (registered already), I was a bit anxious about the vintage white, but it's beautiful (to me) even if I didn't really chose that color. I haven't plugged it in caus' I'm at the office at the moment, but I played it a bit unplugged (that thing resonates it's crazy ). It's fairly light as opposed to my '94 Legacy which is in swamp ash (really heavy in that case).
Anyway, I am really floating at the moment (won't work with efficiency this afternoon I guess ).
I'll drop you some pict' ASAP.
cheers

Good to hear. Looking forward to a complete report about the guitar, especially if the neck pickup suits your style. And pictures of course!

Re: NGD !!!
Congrats, and shows us pictures. I am hoping to have my first G&L guitar, an ASAT Classic on Monday, 01-17-11. So, I know you must be excited after waiting. Give us a report after you have put her through the paces.

Re: NGD !!!
Hey ya'll
after only one day, here are my first impressions :
first of all the radius is not, as advertised, a 7.5" but a 12" definitely, the same as my legacy. the neck is much more rounder (my legacy is a 94er, I heard necks were pretty thin at the time) but it's fine, it may even be more comfortable, time will tell.
as for the colour, V White with tortoise pickguard is much more beautiful than I expected.
and now the sound. the strings are a little too weak for me, I'm accustomed to 11/49, the tech could fix this, but I wonder if I'm not gonna keep it like that.
I didn't thought that guitar would be so versatile, very little twist of the volume or the tone knob radically change the way the guitar react, awesome !
it's my first time with MFD, they are not at all hi fi sounding to my ears, actually they are really faithful, true, no mistake, yes, you can call it high fidelity, as good as a very very good stereo.
the bridge pickup is powerfull but not harsh sounding (though you can set it that way if you like it) it's a really awesome tele bridge pickup, clean and crunch sound are the best (I don't really like high gain), again, very responsive to the knobs and the playing style.
the neck+bridge gives plenty of spank, twang and all, unbelievable, for jazz, even bebop !
the neck is as everyone said, a monster pickup, much more subtle that I thought, but it can do it all, big bass drop D à la RATM if you want, Kenny Burell if you're in the mood.
overall, the most striking thing after only two hours of playing and a night and a day to think about it is the resonance of this instrument, it's crazy !!! complex chording is a breeze, power, control, it's nearly impossible to make this thing sound bad, I'm serious when I say this, I play for 20 years now, used to play funk, rock, pop and all as a living 15 years ago, now I'm into jazz and blues roots (think Kirk Fletcher, Albert Collins, Bill Frisell, Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall)
I'm really stunned !!! a big thumb up to G&L for this ASAT classic custom

Re: NGD !!!
I am afraid I am not seeing a guitar in this post, therefore there is no such guitar in existance and you are quite delusional
