S-500 or Legacy?

Post by Craig »

One of the most frequently asked G&L questions is about the Legacy versus S-500:
"What's the difference in tone?" While many G&L fans end up owning both an S-500
and a Legacy, they usually pull the trigger on one first. So which one is it going to be?
S-500 or Legacy?

Now, for the first time ever, you'll hear the S-500 and Legacy compared lick-for-lick,
pickup-by-pickup. Steve Grom, G&L Director of Manufacturing, explains the differences
between the Legacy and S-500 pickups and plays them back to back in this video demo.
Listen, learn, then head on over to your G&L dealer to check out both for yourself. Enjoy!

Gee, just the discussion was enlightening. I was totally backwards in thinking the ceramic mag pickups would be brighter!
"D'oH!"

Hearing is believing.

Excellent vid!
There's a world between those 2 guitars!
I find the S500 sound much fuller...

Anyway it's great that the manufactory boss makes the vid himself ;)

I've watched and listened to this clip more times than I can remember by now and it wasn't until I grabbed a pair of decent headphones to really listen (past the crappy computer speakers) to the differences that I was really surprised.

In fact, this is what sparked my whole Monday after Christmas LR.

Many thanks to all involved in getting this together for us to see and hear.
