I want an F-100, maybe the 30th Anniv. model. I want this guitar for rock, and the F-100 being mahogany, I want some of that Les Paul-ish tone, but not a Les Paul tone... will the F-100 deliver just that or is it more an SG tone?
What about the hotter MFD pu's? Are they more open sounding than the TB-4 or SH-4 (JB) ? What are the characteristics of this pu? I like the 70's Dimarzio Super Distortion with it's ton of pick attack.... Will the MFD Bridge pu have a percussive attack (early VH tones possible??) or is it a smoothened attack/tone?
Last, the 30th has a stainless steel tremelo system. Any ideas why??? Will stainless steel sound worse???
Yes, I believe they all use the same MFD humbucker pickups.
To my ears the MFD humbuckers are clear and crisper sounding than the SD or the G&L Alnico Humbuckers.

DFS Vibrato System
New for 2010! The DFS Vibrato System makes its debut on the 30th Anniversary F-100 and Legacy models and is optional on other USA G&L guitars.
This upgraded version of the DF Vibrato System brings an even higher level of performance to Leo Fender's design. Bridge Block – The bridge block (on the underside of the bridge plate) is now CNC machined from solid 1018 cold-rolled steel. They definitely sound like a improvement to me.
