G&L Colours and their Fender equivalents

Post by Loobster »

Apologies if this has been done before -

Would I be right in saying that

Himalayan Blue is G&L's Sonic Blue
Baby Blue is their Daphne Blue
Bel Air Green is their Seafoam Green
Fullerton Red is their Fiesta Red
Vintage White is Olympic White?

I believe you meant 'Fender's' when you wrote 'G&L's' but it is an interesting question to which I do not know the answer. Hope some people closer to G&L can chime in because this potential correspondence between Fender color name and G&L color names is something I have been wondering too. It is well known that George Fullerton developed Fiesta Red, so Fullerton Red be the same or very close seems very likely. But that is just conjecture on my side.

Belair green I do not think looks anything like seafoam green, it is a darker metallic colour. Very nice. Kind of turquoise.

Fender also has a Vintage White like G&L. Olympic White is a pure white unlike the yellowed Vintage White.-- Darwin

Interesting. I presume they tried to pay homage to the old Fender/DuPont colours.

Also when I said 'G&L's Sonic Blue', I meant their version of Fender's Sonic Blue...:p
