Hi. I have a few questions concerning G&L custom order guitars.
1. Can I get the new DFS tremolo system on a new S-500? I know they are available on the 30th Annv. model but I don't see it as an option for any other guitar model.
2. Is ebony fretboard optional or only maple and rosewood?
3. How long does it take for a custom order G&L to complete and ship?
4. Is Himalayan Blue still an option? I don't see it offered on any of the sites that allow you to select color options.
5. Does the S-500 only come with chrome metal knobs?

Re: Questions about G&L custom order.
Someone recently got an ebony board on a ASAT or legacy or something, as far as the DFS goes you will have to get your dealer to ask them really nice in both cases. G&Ls hardware is unfortunately all chrome.
My ASAT took 50 days quoted 90, seems to vary heavily depending what they have on hand however.

I mean just the knobs. Is it possible to get the same knobs found on the Legacys on an S-500?
I guess I should wait until after Winter NAMM. They might announce some additional options or models.

There is a possibility that the DFS trem will become an option some time in the future, but as of now,Lifesonfan2112 wrote:Hi. I have a few questions concerning G&L custom order guitars.

it is only available on the 30th Anniversary models: S-500, F-100 and Legacy.
Ebony is currently optional for Basses (fretless only). It was optional for guitars, but was eliminated a few
years back when high quality Ebony was hard to come find. It is used on the Jerry Cantrell Signature
Rampage and the 30th Anniversary models, so perhaps a quantity of high quality Ebony has been found by G&L.
You might ask your G&L dealer to see if they can special order an Ebony fretboard for you.
Hope this helps.

Re: Questions about G&L custom order.
I tried getting the DFS on my new Legacy order but was told that they wouldn't be available on anything but the 30th anniversary models until sometime in 2011. Which sucks because the 30th anniversary models don't come with locking tuners, and I really wanted both. I guess I might consider upgrading to the DFS next year if it's a direct swap.
