Registry Error?

Post by desertrat07 »

I played a George Fullerton Signature today at my local shop, with a serial no. GF0888. After looking it up on the registry something ain't right -the guitar I played was a tobacco burst or maybe a two-tone burst with a maple board. Nice guitar, love the v-neck! But the registry indicates that this very guitar is a 3-tone burst with rosewood board. What's that about?

Usually I've seen the Fullerton's having the chome 3-bolt "GF" plates, so they're easier to read than the crinkle. I saw one on ebay about a year ago which clashed with a serial number in the registry too. In that case, the ebay one was a 4 bolter, and the registry said it was a 3 bolt (completely different colour... the ebay one was an orange hollowbody with George's Sig on the body.)
I've wondered if a few of the Fullerton serials were duplicated / mixed up when they switched from 3 to 4 bolts? I assume they would have destroyed the unused "GF" serial 3 bolt plates & remake those as 4's?

It's more than likely that who ever registered the guitar, selected 3-tone sunburst instead of tobacco sunburst and Rosewood instead of Maple.
They are in the registry pull down lists together and it is easy to select the wrong one. I have edited the registry entry to reflect tobacco sunburst
finish and Maple fretboard wood.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
