Damn, there’s a ton of information in that video, some claims that kinda pull the curtain back, and crystal ball stuff that we will wait to see. Well presented and there’s a lot of love for G&L out there for sure. Not giving any spoilers because I think it’s worth watching the whole video. Will see how it all plays out, but now I’m gonna happily rock out with my new Korina Collection ASAT Junior II!!

Re: What's all this about?
While the sad waiting game continues, and speculation abounds as to the future (if any) of G&L appears in all forms of comments, criticism, scorn for management, and "expert advice" on how a USA-Built guitar builder "should/have/could have" been run:
Having owned and played (4) excellent G&L basses I have often been about ready to add another.
I spec'd out a SB-1 for instance recently, and the few changes I would make to the Fullerton Model made it a Custom Shop build, with a long waiting time and a pretty high price tag.
Still, it would have been worth it, I know for sure.
It's sad to think of what I consider a great line either disappearing or being swallowed/altered, whatever. Some of the 'prophecies" posted on the MI 'net, I dunno...
Fender's gonna take over, Sterling Ball awaits, bla bla bla.
I would hope someone or some group with the needed $$ and business acumen would take the reins and keep doing what they have been-
Build superb high-end guitars & basses at (what was once at least) very equitable pricing.
The USA G&L builds I've had - (2 built-to-order; 2 "off the shelf", including an amazing Leo 50th L2K-how I miss that bass-
Were =+ any of the other high-end FSO''s FCS, Lull, Sadowsky- name it. They kicked butt, were superbly built and finished, and were 1/2 the cost of the others- Really.
Plus the recent output shown here from the CS- simply awesome.
End of rant- Short version; It sucks if production ends.
I hope this small space on the web sticks around at least as a legacy. I know most of the posters here are Guitarists, (I forgive you); there seem to be some cool peeps that play these superb instruments.

Bad news - saw this a couple of days ago. Just negotiating for a second-hand Tribute JB-2. Getting a bit nervous. [Now a success, btw: phew!] I think Shull and McKnight are right, they’ve got the wrong people marketing. As an inheritor of British motorcycle engineering, I find this horribly familiar

From reddit:
The employees were called into meetings to today and were told that company would be winding down (closing). They were given severance packages and any remaining sick and vacation time they had left. However, they would not confirm if they were sold to Fender or not. Property management will be there tomorrow to inspect all the units and they will be emptied out shortly after.

Here’s one known employee…

https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index ... t-42046175I'm sad to say it's true. I just got back from my "meeting". I was told they are winding down the company and letting go of all the employees. They dodged the Fender question so i'm assuming they bought it.
33 years of doing the right thing and the rug gets yanked out from underneath you. It's hard to take, but thankful for those years.
Another…
I'm very sad to report these copy and pastes from an employee, and a friend.
earlier this morning
"Not yet. I go in at 1:00.
I heard somebody saw F.M. I.C. paperwork, checks for the employees, and cobra paperwork in the office.
So my guess is Fender bought it, and they're gonna kill G&L & the factory? We'll see.
They are calling all of us individually, and I think im one of the 1st ones to go in."
text sent at 1355 hrs Today
"Dave said they are killing the company and letting all the employees go. They this wouldn't give me an answer if Fender bought it, so that means they did."

Thank you Pork Rind, sad news to hear for the employees and what tentatively sounds like the end of an era.

Here’s what Wikipedia says now.
“G&L was an American guitar manufacturing company founded by Leo Fender, George Fullerton, and Dale Hyatt in the late 1970s”
“WAS” is a sad past past tense description.
