Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.
I am wishing to join the forum and add my guitar to the registry.
I have a 1986 Skyhawk with a Kahler on it.
I recently finished putting it back together from a box of parts and have set it up. It plays like butter and feels like a dream.
I wanted to get into the registry and pay my dues on here as a worthwhile contributor.
It seems that these G&L guitars are really not getting the attention or demand that they really should. I would love for mine to find an eventual rightful home to someone who truly appreciates it.
I have a small repair facility in Riveside where zi mostly restore amplifiers. But also now manage guitar setups and repairs as well.
(Yes , I have had my fair share of MM amps come thru the door too)
I do this as more of a hobby, however I have since quit my day job and my 50% shop partner has long gone and been giving my attention back to the shop and at least pay the rent thru the work I do there. I am not a great horsetrader but I have found satisfaction in restoration work and it has been the most financially rewarding aspect of having a music repair shop of my very own...
Anyways, I have fun wrenching on guitar stuff and have enjoyed meeting many music enthusiasts, music industry, and professional artists along the way,. Maybe a couple of less enjoyable folks too . But the positive outweigh the jerks and even the less pleasurable have been genuine learning experiences , so I have to look on the bright side of things.
I enjoy vintage and classic gear. I have had opportunity to collect and own some great stuff and have helped others obtain and restore some of the great in demand holy tone amplifiers and saving a few from the landfills too!
I am surprised that the vintage cork sniffing high digit collector types have not been hoarding these old G&Ls or have realized what a great value they have in todays marketplace.
It wont be long before they start speculating on these instruments just as they have put high demand on other professional grade instruments of the past.
I will enjoy following this community.
Thanks, Brian "southbound" Suarez
