New to G&L guitars !

Post by Ljislinlk »

Hi, just bought a brand new Fullerton deluxe ASAT what a nice guitar ! I recently bought & returned 3 Fender Ultra Tele's due to QC problems on them & ended up very frustrated with Fender. So I kept seeing & reading about G&L but there was no Fullertons available to try out anywhere in several music stores I tried. I ordered one from Sweetwater & have been playing the heck out of it ! Super fun guitar to play the notes seem to just come alive, taking it to band practice tomorrow & will see how it goes. Play mostly classic rock & some country stuff I'm pretty sure the Fullerton will cover it all pretty well. So far I'm really liking the pick ups & controls it seems more versatile than the standard single coil set up. On my other Teles it was pretty much tone wide open all the time and almost same with volume. The G&L (IMHO) tone and volume controls do not kill the tone they just alter it & still sound great.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum.
The Special MFDs are great pickups. Some of Leo's best work in my opinion.

Welcome to our site! :happy0065:

Which version of the Fullerton Deluxe ASAT did you get (ASAT CLASSIC ALNICO, ASAT CLASSIC, ASAT CLASSIC BLUESBOY or ASAT SPECIAL)?

When you get a chance, please post some photos as we all love to see them.
For posting photos here, see: Tutorial: Posting photos.

Looking forward to see which model you got. :searching:

Thanks !
I'll try & upload a photo a bit later I'm new to Fliker & not sure how to do that. The model I got is a Fullerton Deluxe classic ASAT. What makes it Deluxe or classic I'm not sure ? But it has 2 smaller size MFD's, swamp ash body, maple neck & fret board. Weighs in at 6lbs 15OZ very balanced & nice & light, has the belly contour. Took it over to my guitar tech today to get His opinion on it & He was all smiles ! He really dug it & says it's a fantastic guitar. The guy is much better player than me and was just ripping on it. His assessment was exactly like mine "this thing is fun to play" !
I know I'll have a few questions about it after I play it awhile but right now it's all good !

And check out this link on our G&L Knowledgebase forum->G&L Specifications and Options sub-forum->8/1/2024-present Fullerton Deluxe & CLF Research Series PL.

Hope this helps.

Ditto to Craig and Mutts!

Congrats on your new ASAT you got a true winner there and will find some magic hidden in those pickups.

Look forward to hearing more about your impressions and what music genre you’re into.

Remember, you can never have too many ASATS!

Welcome!
Funny, my luthier had the same reaction when he worked on my ASAT Classic. This guy works on a lot of fine instruments and when he gushed about the ASAT Classic I could only smile.

Welcome, welcome!

Congrats on the new ASAT Classic!
I tend toward the strat-body myself but the ASAT is such a killer guitar. Leo really got it right and Dave, Johnny and the gang today do a marvelous build.

When using Flikr, I select the pic, then 'share', then use the BBCode link. Copy and paste that entire link into your message and you should be good.

Cheers,
TJ

Hi! I can't believe how similar our experiences are! I also bought and returned 3 Fender American Professional II Telecaster Deluxe because of QC issues—mostly poor fretboard, grounding problems, and dents in the paint. Then I discovered G&L and got a Fullerton Deluxe Comanche from Sweetwater. I have to say, it's one of the best guitars I've ever played—astonishing build quality and tone!
