John Prine video: G&L content!

At a concert last weekend by The Sam Chase and the Untraditional (good stuff; check them out), Sam told a story about sitting onstage during John Prine's 2017 performance at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco. Following up, I searched for and found this video that compiles John's performances there from three years: 2011, 2014, and 2017.

The first song, from 2011, doesn't contain G&L content. But starting at the second song, at 3:17 (links are in the expanded description), we see a butterscotch ASAT with Leo signature on the headstock (but high string tree) played quite tastefully. And, an SB-1 bass! Looks to be early, with the plastic pickguard. (Tip of the hat to ggjaguar's site.) (The guitarist also has a sunburst ASAT in his rack.)

The ASAT features through the rest of the six songs, with some fine slide playing, chicken picking, etc; the SB-1 is less frequent.

There are a couple of special guests in these clips, and if you like John Prine, these are solid performances that the HSB channel posted after his untimely passing in April 2020.

Thanks for posting this. JP is a gem. I first heard him in my teen years on a local progressive radio station. That lead player's ASAT (?) is sounding real nice without being too twangy.
