Re: First G&L question
I wouldn't give up just yet. I am not the most knowledgeable fellow on this site - and older posts can sometimes have outdated info. I'd fish around here for a bit yet. That post isn't exactly new (14 years old) - things may have changed since then. When I saw your post, I looked to see if this had been addressed anywhere before - and shared the link of what seemed a promising post.
I would hold out hope if I were you. A lot can have happened in 14 years. You may want to use the search feature and scour the site yourself to see if there is anything newer. A few of the regulars are quite knowledgeable, and Craig - the admin - has crazy connections inside G&L, and can often sleuth an authoritative answer if he has enough info on the guitar. Don't give up hope just yet.

Re: First G&L question
Newer G&L guitars have bi-directional truss rods. Older ones don't. Not sure when the switch was made. If you post the serial number more knowledgeable folks can give you more info. There is a sticky in the information section of this forum that provides info on build dates vs. serial number. Finally you can contact repairs@glguitars.com, give Memo the serial number, and he can provide you with all the relative build info on the instrument, as well as guidance on how to deal with your neck issue. Good luck and welcome.

Re: First G&L question
He did post the Serial Number and it corresponds to a build year of 2004. The switch from the older truss rod in the Bi-Cut neck design was done in 2006,Tooslowhand wrote:Newer G&L guitars have bi-directional truss rods. Older ones don't. Not sure when the switch was made. to the non-compression truss rod. See this link which the explains the G&L neck designs: https://web.archive.org/web/20170717211 ... s/neck.asp .
Also, the contact email address for Customer Support is: repairs@bbesound.com; the old one (@glguitars.com) no longer works.
Hope this helps.

Check out this post, in case you have maxed out the threads on the truss rod: viewtopic.php?p=90775#p90775.Tachikaze wrote:Well thank you kindly! Since it appears that I don't have a bidirectional truss rod, I am going to try some different string brands in the hope I can find a .010-.046 set with slightly higher tension. If I could get just another thousandth of neck relief I'd be happy. I am using some crappy generic PRS-branded strings on it now (probably Ernie Balls) and have some Kurt Mangans en route. I will try both their hex-core and round-core sets.
Hope this helps.

Re: First G&L question
In case you have not seen this in our Gallery, here is the G&L manual which applies to your guitar:
Album: Owner's Manual, Version 2 (1988-2008)
Hope this helps.
