Volume pot values for comanches

Post by Fuzzmonkey »

Hi, after comparing Fullerton and tribute comanches, I can't understand why they sound so different. Presumably they have the exact same pups. Cheaper components might a difference but, that much ? I heard that the volume pots are 500 on the tribute and 250 on the Fullerton, does that seem correct ?

The pot values for the US model and the Tribute Series model should be the exact same values. The pickups are exactly the same for both US and Tribute Series models which are made at the G&L factory in Fullerton, CA. See: Album: Comanche Wiring Diagram and Picture Diagram. One difference for the pickup expander feature is that the US model uses a mini-toggle switch whereas, the Tribute Series use a push/pull Treble pot.
The Tribute Series Comanche has had different body woods from what the US Comanche has had available. See: History of the Tribute Comanche?.

I have not A/B'd the G&L Comanches, so I cannot comment about differences you are hearing between the US Comanche and the Tribute Series Comanche.

Hope this helps.
