Research Espada HH / Doheny PU's

Post by James227 »

Hello. I have a new Research Espada HH Passive, that I'm thinking about trying to have the Doheny mfd single coil pickups installed in. Does anyone happen to have the exact measurements of the Doheny pickups? I can't seem to find them anywhere. I'm wanting to see if there is enough room on the Espada HH for the extra routing without hitting the control plate, etc.

Does anyone know offhand if there would be anyone issues trying this pickup swap? I realize that the coil split switch would be disconnected. The only diagrams I see on the G&L gallery are for the Active version of the Espada HH. Are these basically the same, just ignoring the battery connections for the active controls?

Thanks for any input.

I emailed Memo Romero (G&L Service Manager) with a copy of your post.
Here is his reply:

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. It looks like the bridge pickup should just be able to squeeze in there.

If you do this project, please add a post to The Project Page sub-forum.

Looking forward to seeing photos and hearing the results of this project. :searching:
