Question on Standard Finishes Over The Years

Post by GMKomatz »

Hi everyone,

Hope that all are well today. I was going through G & L's finishes on their website, both the current website and archived versions of the site over the years and had a question regarding some of the Standard Finishes:

1. Is the current Alpine White finish the same or similar to the White finish that was around up to 2015?

2. Is the current Jet Black finish the same or similar to the Black finish that was around up to 2015?

3. Is Pharoah Gold Firemist similar to the Gold Metallic finish option from the 2000s? Or is it Yukon Gold that's more similar to Gold Metallic?

Look forward to the discussion. Thank you!

1. Apline White is the same or similar to the White finish prior to 2015.
2. Jet Black is the same or similar to the Black finish prior to 2015.
3. Yes, Pharoah Gold Firemist is similar to the Gold Metallic finish whereas Yukon Gold is not similar to Gold Metallic.
See for yourself:

Thanks for sending this over, Craig! Definitely seeing what you're referencing on how different Pharaoh Gold Firemist and Yukon Gold are.

That Asat looks great in Yukon gold. I would love to see that colour sometime in person.

Hi Craig,

I think the only other color question I have for now is what the modern equivalent is to the pre-BBE lighter Blue that I believe is called Viking Blue (also seen it called Bahama Blue)? I want to say it's Turquoise, maybe Himalayan Blue but figure i'd check here. Thank you!

The lighter Blue was later called Viking Blue. In this Ad it is listed as Blue:

Bahama Blue was a very dark Blue. This is 1987 SB-1 in Bahama Blue:

This page is from the January 1, 1988 Price List:

Here are current colors which are similar to Viking Blue:

Thanks, Craig for confirming on the Blue color options. Would Fullerton Red be the modern equivalent to the 80s SC finishes named Red, and Rally Red for the 80s Invaders and Rampages in Rampage Red? I think that was all I had left color question wise. Thanks again!
