Being that it is a Custom Shop build, the Paired MFDs in the neck position are custom for this guitar.mutts wrote:Paired MFDs in the neck position? Is that something new?
Nice looking guitar
It is the first time I have seen one like this.

Wasn't that how the Doheny V12 pickups were developed?

I am ..intrigued by the paired MFDs configured as a humbucker. I think I would really like that.

I wish the site had a dedicated thumbs up button, I'd wanted to mash it a few times when I read this.

The idea of combining 2 MFDs not a bucker goes all the way back to the Leo days. He used the idea on what allegedly is the last guitar he was involved in: this Superhawk prototype.

Yes, I saw that the S-500/Shyhawk pickups were use that way, but this is the first time I have seen AC bridge pickups configured that way.
I would love to hear them that way. I wonder if Tim thought about using them configured as a humbucker for the Bluesboy.

That pickup idea was one of the guys in my crew, Tyler Spracher. He paired two ASAT MFD neck pickups together, similar to a humbucker, and gave it special wiring after collaborating with the owner of the store who was buying the guitar. If I recall correctly, it went to Brickhouse Music in Colorado. The owner came to visit the shop during NAMM and saw us working on the build, and bought it as well as a Widow Burst Legacy.mutts wrote:Paired MFDs in the neck position? Is that something new?
Nice looking guitar
We're currently planning to do a small batch run of builds with similar pickup configurations to this ASAT for Brickhouse to celebrate their 30th anniversary this year.

That pickup matchup sounded truly incredible. I was extremely impressed with the results, and gave Tyler the go-ahead to run with the idea further in the future.DanDoulogos wrote:I am ..intrigued by the paired MFDs configured as a humbucker. I think I would really like that.
