This is an interesting story (about 30 min) by Zac Childs, former guitar tech for Brad Paisley, about a confrontation in 1981 between a guitarist (Jeff Ross) who had sampled presumably an F-100 of the day, and Leo Fender, which may have inspired Leo to create the SC-2 and eventually, the Broadcaster. The ASAT guitar he plays in the vid is an '86 ASAT that was gifted to Brad P by John Jorgenson. Not everything Zac says is 100% accurate, but this is the first recount I've heard of this specific story. enjoy! right click on the video link and open in a new window.

Re: origins of Broadcaster/ASAT
Not really a fan of Brad Paisley but I would be curious to hear what his thoughts are regarding playing the guitar. It would be fun to hear him play it for that matter. Kind of a shame that it is kept in a glass case.
Nice wood grain on that one.
