Set up the bridge of a legacy

Hi,
I have a legacy HB form 2003 with a dual fulcrum vibrato.
I've read that the strings produce a better vibration if the bridge is really flat on the body of the guitar (the body is in contact with all the superficy of the bridge)
what do you think about it ?
this configuration will not cause any damages or a malfunction on the bridge ?

I personally like my bridge to float. I don't dive bomb but that swirly tone you get with subtle trem use is a great efect.
In theory a locked down bridge will give better sustain but I ceretainly don't notice a lack of sustain from my
Legacy as compared to my stop tail guitars.

I have a couple of my G&L's set up this way,
I lowered the bridge posts a little and adjusted the spring claw to add pull to the springs,
(on my strat I added 2 springs , 5 total, similar to Hendrix's set-up).

The back of the bridge is held tight ( negating the up bends on the whammy, but it gets rid of the problem of other strings going flat while bending another ). The down bends still work great, though with a little more resistance.

No adverse affects on the bridge assembly in function or durability...just make sure the bridge posts and spring claw are adjusted so the back of the bridge is contacting the body squarely.
