Do I call my modded Asat tribute a esquire or a Solamante

Post by bassoneman »

I just finished modding a Asat tribute
I had it hanging around and I was looking
to buy a Fender Esquire so I decided I didn’t
want to spend the 2k to purchase one.
So here it is
G&L Asat Limited with Ash Body
White Solamente Pick Guard( you have to
trim around Electronis chrome plate)
Semore Duncan Vintage 54 bridge pickup
Esquire wiring with wah in forward position
Tuask nut. New volume and tone knobs
to fit 1/4 posts
It sounds great. I am in a Johnny CASH tribute band.
Maybe I will call it the G&L Luther Tribute . When I
Figure out how to post a photo. I will post it

Hi bassoneman,

I saw your guitar on the FB. Looks great! And yes, within the G&L ecosystem it would be an ASAT Classic modified into an ASAT Classic Solamente Alnico with a swapped out pup. Note that the "real" Solamente still has a rout for the neck pickup (see pic). So if your guitar may well look identical under the pickguard.

hey bassoneman,

Nice job!

Love the Solamente and your approach looks like a winner. Post more on how she sounds.
