Can I clean the pots on a G&L Comanche without taking the pickguard off?
I took the knob off and sprayed contact cleaner on the post, but it didn't help much.
Should I remove the nut holding the por or unscrew the pickguard to spray it?
Thanks,
Charley

Remove the strings, lift the pickguard, and spray contact cleaner into the small holes in the pots. Rotate the knots while spraying. Make sure to cover the finished surfaces of the guitar with a towel or something as the contact cleaner can damage the finish.

Thanks. So, I do need to unscrew the pickguard.

Yes. Remove the strings, unscrew the pickguard and turn it over so the pots are pointing up. Cover the body of the guitar with a towel to prevent any scratches and damage from the contact cleaner. You will not have to disconnect anything.
