I recently acquired an S500 that the seller claimed was all original. The finish looks a bit suspect to me. It feels a bit bumpy and has some visible divots like they didn't use enough grain filler. Can anyone verify if this is how a 1986 sunburst finish should look over mohagany?
I've also read that finding a mohogany bodied G&L in 1986 would be pretty rare. Could this be an earlier body that was refinished to match the neck? The body has no date stamps.

Post the serial number and I will contact one of my contacts at G&L to look it up in the factory log and get the specs and completion date as a starting point.DOArrival wrote:I recently acquired an S500 that the seller claimed was all original. Here is the G&L factory log info:
Build date of December 2nd, 1986 it has a #2 neck with ebony fretboard, the color is sunburst.
Hope this helps.
