in about 2005 my dad bought me a Legacy from eBay
Fullerton Red but has a painted neck and headstock to match
I do not see very many G&Ls with painted necks and was wondering if anyone out there could tell me anything about it
Serial is G051373
I will attached pictures but full discloser - I changed the pickguard and added humbuckers as an angsty teen
I still have all of the original parts though
Help me know more about my Legacy

Re: Help me know more about my Legacy
It may have been one of the first Fullerton Standard models which came out in 2006 or a special build for a dealer.
I have asked a contact at the factory to find out.
Stay tuned.

Hope this helps (some). The production date on this is November 6th 1997,,, there is no mention of it being a special order for a dealer, also there is no mention of a painted headstock or neck..

Thank you very much!
Am I correct in my search that painted necks are relatively rare?

In the mid-'86 most of the SC-3 guitars had painted necks, first to hide imperfections in the neck wood, but soon after the G&L dealers were selling those with paintedDougLegacy wrote:Thank you very much!

necks and requested SC-3 with painted necks until 1991.
After Leo's passing, many years later, BBE/G&L revisited painted necks via some prototype but did not make it an option, see: Guitar Prototypes.
The most recent (2015-2016) example done was some special build ASAT Classic Bluesboys for the Japanese Distributor.
ASAT Classic Bluesboy in Red Metal Flake with full matching neck, pickguard delete, rear mounted controls, Slim C neck profile with rosewood board. CLF075792 is part of a special custom run for our distributor in Japan Kurosawa Music Online.
So, yes painted necks are relatively rare.
Hope this helps.
