I checked with a factory contact to find out which pickup the neck pickup is. He said it is the standard MFD soapbar style single coil
used in the ASAT Special, not the neck pickup which was used in the ASAT Classic Custom (production run 2002-2012, with some additional ones build in 2013 and 2014).

I would go with the first one, just wish it was double bound.

The elves seem to be tinkering in the workshop lately!

Doing double bound would mean you could not have the rear contour, though.

Anyone remember a Special Build which had tortiose double bound body binding?

I really like the natural one and Sweetwater seems to be asking a reasonable price for this guitar. Wish I had the resources, but then again I already have too many guitars that go unplayed. Should probably change my user name to Waytooslowhand.

Yes, except the binding is Tortoise shell binding not Black; photo is hard to see, but you can barely see the red in the closeup shoots.

I just wish they would have chosen the extra-fat Jumbo MFD neck pickup instead the stock Jumbo MFD pickup used in the ASAT Special models.
