Note: I am at the hospital with my dear wife, who is having rotator cuff surgery. She's in good hands, but we covet your thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and recovery. I'm just spending my free time doing this LR and homework for my grad project management class (yay free hospital internet!).
Wednesday recap
Will we see some more re-issues...I dunno. But if we keep chatting them up and the dealers know...then possibly. I expected some more wacky stories, but it seems as if the folks that usually have colorful tales are in lurk mode.
Lunch
I don't have a clue when I'll be able to eat. Could be hospital food...could be a very late lunch if everything goes well and they send her home for recovery.

No kids here, I try to keep it that way
No G&L porn from me either, yet.
What the heck do those 'insulators' do that you need all those colours?

They are glass insulators that were used for connecting electrical/telegraph/phone lines to wooden power/telephone poles. Glass insulates the electrical current from finding its way to the pole and to ground...keeping the pole from becoming electrified. Glass insulators haven't been manufactured for quite some time...and they are very collectable. There is a whole website http://www.insulators.info about the insulator collecting hobby. They can sell for a lot of money. The most expensive insulator sold that I saw at a show (yes there are insulator shows...like car or guitar shows) was for $33,000! Needless to say it was very old, rare, desired, and in perfect condition. Now porcelain insulators are used and they usually come in a shade of gray or brown.sirmyghin wrote:What the heck do those 'insulators' do that you need all those colours?

All the best to your wifey Kodor. Here's praying you're done with that place sooner rather than later.
I spent some time in the ER myself last weekend....prolly gal bladder attack...reminded me how much
I hate hospitals though I am glad they are there when you need them.
Lunch for me is bland and non-offensive while we figure this deal out. Cottage cheese and pineapple or something.
Got myself some "on the truck, headed this way porn"
It an '09 ASAT Deluxe in clear red with a swamp ash back. It'll be here mid next week.
It joins my '06 Legacy, '03 Heritage 575 and my rare '98 MIJ Ibanez AS180.

Gotcha, I have seen those now, they still had glass ones in my home town (it being older than the hills). I often overlook things as collectibles, as I do not collect anything (aside from Books, Cd's , gear), but nothing for collectings sake. 33k for a piece of glass eh? I know what I am doing while I am at home for Christmas (getting electrocuted most likely)
As I missed it the first time, Speedy recovery to your wife.

No guitar pictures with me, sorry.
When I was a kid we used to ride dirt bikes on an old railroad track bed that was lined with abandoned
poles. We used the old insulators as target practice with our BB guns. I wonder how many
dollars worth of glass we shattered! I actually did save one thats still sitting somewhere in my basement.

Update: Shannon was in and out of surgery in about an hour. We were home by lunchtime. I told her y'all were thinking about her. The doc said it was a complete success...they repaired the tears, removed the infection and a bone spur.
Lunch: I had a whopper, fries, and a coke...I was hongry!
Great pics sofar, keep them coming...even if you need to post them tomorrow or here in the GbL Porn Thread: http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewt ... =36&t=1288. Craig...can we make that thread a sticky?

Glad to hear of your sweetie's surgical success, Chris.
I need to take some new pictures; I feel ashamed posting the old ones over and over. Trust me that things have been crazy here the past two weeks. Sorry I haven't participated more. - ed PS: Love those insulators!!!!

Glad to hear the surgery was a complete success. (That's the best kind!) Always stressful having a loved one go under the knife, even when it's not a life threatening ailment. Must be a relief to have your wife at home recuperating.
Don't seem to have any recent pics of the kids at hand, but here's are a couple I posted recently during my own LR stint.
'80 hog/ebony L-1000 in trans red & '81 ash/ebony:
'81 F-100 hardtails (Series II ash/ebony & Series I hog/maple):
I've since picked up a Series II dual-fulcrum in CAR but haven't had a chance to snap a decent pic.

Re: p0rn Thursday Lunch Report - Thursday Sept 30
Chris, just got back from a couple of days out of town and am catching up. First of all, I am honored for the second highest honor possible, that is to be a LR next week and I humbly accept. Also, this week will be hard to follow as you have done a great job. You photos are always a treat. Glad that Shannon came through fine. Ginny had foot surgery in March and has mostly recovered. It just takes time.
The pictures this week have been outstanding and the participation increase recently has been very nice to see. Lots of interesting comments. I will do my best to keep it interesting and I for sure will make some comments on my recent transition form a bass gigger to a 6 string gigger. We will also do some tech talk and anything in between. On the way out of town yesterday I stopped a American Guitar and Band and checked out their latest G&L s. --- Darwin
