G&L Lap Steel/Console Steel?

Post by NashvilleCat »

I play a lot of lap steel and I wish G&L would make a few models. They seem like they would be pretty easy to produce, and somewhat inexpensive for G&L to tool up for production.

Even if they weren't mass produced and were custom orders, I'd like to see G&L carry on the tradition of Leo's work with lap steel and console steel guitars.

I have a 1957 Fender T8 Stringmaster and a 1960 Fender D8 Stringmaster (triple and dual 8 string necks respectively), They are great instruments, but it would be nice to have a similar modern model with improved tuners, and maybe stronger pickups.

Fender built a variety of 6 string and 8 string lap steels and non-pedal consoles back in the day. I wonder if G&L has the design documents for those?

Here are my Stringmasters...
